Your role

As Financial Controller, you are responsible for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company. You monitor and manage financial and operational strategy metrics, develop and maintain control systems to safeguard company assets, and ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.

You validate data, prepare financial analyses, and support Management in evaluating business performance. You also assist managers in identifying and implementing value adding improvements. You will lead the Finance department and report directly to the Director of Finance ALS Worldwide.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure an accurate and timely financial administration and provide support during the monthly and annual closing processes.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting for Checkpoint Apparel Labeling Terborg (Actuals, Forecast, Budget).
  • Full ownership of the P&L, Balance Sheet, and Working Capital (local-, Canadian-, and tax GAAP).
  • Ensure alignment between local results and global reporting.
  • Oversee all financial transactions and accounting activities.
  • Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Perform Balance Sheet reviews.
  • Manage Internal Controls / Audits (Bill 198), Dutch Statutory Audits and conduct financial analyses.
  • Oversee tax management and compliance for the region.
  • End responsible for Credit Management.
  • Approve Capital expenditure and contracts.
  • Monitor and control costs and expenses.
  • Ensure financial practices comply with statutory legislation and regulations.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structures, including:
    • Restructuring accruals and expenses
    • Warranty, inventory, and receivables reserves
    • Intercompany reconciliations
  • Serve as an active member of the Management Team, acting ethically and cost consciously.
  • Ensuring that the operations related to the cost accounting of the company (product unit costs and average costs) are carried out within the framework of determined expense centers.
  • Provide financial guidance to the Management Team and coordinate with regional and corporate experts in tax, treasury, risk management, accounting, and internal control.
  • Provide support if requested to lead financial analysis and scenario modeling for new business proposals and manage the approval process before proposals reach customers.

Education, knowledge and experience:

You are a strong match if you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics.
  • Approximately 10 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably in an international and/or production environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in financial accounting and ready to grow into a controller position.
  • Strong accounting expertise and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of local systems, MS Office, SAP, and Qlik Analytics.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of financial regulations and standards (e.g., IFRS or GAAP).
  • English proficiency at minimum B2 level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of payroll administration (payroll taxes, WKR), experience with ADP iHCM is a plus.

Jouw rol

Als Financial Controller ben je verantwoordelijk voor de administratieve, financiële en risicobeheertaken binnen het bedrijf. Je monitort en beheert financiële en operationele kpi’s, ontwikkelt en onderhoudt controlesystemen om bedrijfsactiva te beschermen en zorgt voor nauwkeurige en conforme financiële rapportages.

Je valideert data, stelt financiële analyses op en ondersteunt het management bij het beoordelen van bedrijfsresultaten. Daarnaast help je managers bij het identificeren en implementeren van waarde toevoegende verbeteringen. Je geeft leiding aan de afdeling Finance en rapporteert rechtstreeks aan de Director of Finance ALS Worldwide.

Belangrijkste verantwoordelijkheden

  • Zorgdragen voor een correcte en tijdige financiële administratie en je ondersteunt bij de maand- en jaarafsluitingen.
  • Zorgdragen voor accurate en tijdige financiële rapportages voor Checkpoint Apparel Labeling Terborg (Actuals, Forecast, Budget).
  • Verantwoordelijk voor de winst‑ en verliesrekening, balans en werkkapitaal (lokale en Canadese GAAP).
  • Zorgen voor afstemming tussen lokale resultaten en wereldwijde rapportages.
  • Toezicht houden op alle financiële transacties en boekhoudkundige activiteiten.
  • Bewaken van interne controles ter bescherming van bedrijfsactiva.
  • Uitvoeren van balanscontroles.
  • Interne controles/ Audits (Bill 198), Nederlandse wettelijke audits en financiële analyses uitvoeren.
  • Toezicht houden op belastingbeheer en de naleving van lokale wetgeving.
  • Eindverantwoordelijk voor debiteurenbeheer.
  • Goedkeuren van investeringen (CapEx) en contracten.
  • Monitoren en beheersen van kosten en uitgaven.
  • Zorgen dat financiële processen voldoen aan wet- en regelgeving.
  • Grondige kennis onderhouden van financiële rapportages en grootboekstructuren, waaronder:
    • Reserveringen voor herstructureringen en kosten
    • Garanties, voorraden en debiteurenreserves
    • Intercompany‑afstemmingen
  • Actief lid zijn van het Managementteam en ethisch en kostenbewust handelen.
  • Zorgen dat de activiteiten met betrekking tot kostprijscalculaties (productkostprijzen en gemiddelde kosten) plaatsvinden binnen de vastgestelde kostenplaatsenstructuur.
  • Financiële ondersteuning bieden aan het managementteam en afstemmen met regionale- en bedrijfsdeskundigen op het gebied van belasting, treasury, risicobeheer, accounting en interne controle.
  • Ondersteuning bieden indien gevraagd bij leidinggeven aan financiële analyses en scenariomodellen voor nieuwe businessvoorstellen en het goedkeuringsproces beheren voordat voorstellen bij klanten terechtkomen.

Opleiding, kennis en ervaring

Je bent een sterke match als je beschikt over:

  • Een bacheloropleiding of hoger in Finance, Accounting, Economie of Wiskunde.
  • Ongeveer 10 jaar ervaring in financiële accounting, bij voorkeur in een internationale en/of productieomgeving.
  • Aantoonbare ervaring in financial accounting en klaar om door te groeien naar de rol van controller.
  • Sterke boekhoudkundige expertise en analytische vaardigheden.
  • Kennis van lokale systemen, MS Office, SAP en Qlik Analytics.
  • Een hoge mate van nauwkeurigheid en oog voor detail.
  • Gedegen kennis van financiële regelgeving en standaarden (zoals IFRS of GAAP).
  • Vloeiend Nederlands en Engels beheersen
  • Woonachtig maximaal 30 kilometer van Terborg
  • Uitstekende mondelinge en schriftelijke vaardigheden.
  • Kennis van salarisadministratie (loonheffingen, WKR); ervaring met ADP iHCM is een pré.
