Telefónica Deutschland is renewing the design and equipment of all stores of its core brand O2 in Germany over the next few years. Part of the new store concept is hardware solutions from Checkpoint Systems for article surveillance. In addition to our NEO NP10 EAS antennas, Alpha Mini Spider Wraps and custom AutoPeg tags protect cell phone accessories and the like.

In the renewed O2 stores, customers can touch all products as well as their accessories, take them off the shelf, and view them from all sides - as long as current pandemic-related hygiene regulations permit. The new store concept of open product display enhances the customer experience, while the AutoPeg tags, specially adapted for O2, prevent theft. Instead of standard yellow, AutoPeg Tags are white with blue lettering to match the new store design. Two openers are available for opening AutoPeg Tags and the Alpha Mini Spider Wraps, which are also used: one mobile and one permanently installed at the checkout counter.

Four article surveillance antennas to choose from

The design of the article surveillance antennas placed in the entrance area played a major role in the decision to choose Checkpoint Systems as the article surveillance partner. They also blend harmoniously into the new overall look of the stores and have nothing in common with the classic gate look of many older article surveillance antennas. Four different solutions from Checkpoint Systems' latest portfolio will be installed, depending on the circumstances of each store.

Design and safety combined

The project covers all stores of the O2 brand in Germany and is a clear commitment to stationary retail in pandemic-related difficult times. The starting signal for the conversion process, which is scheduled to take several years, was given as early as summer 2020.

"We are very happy to be part of this project. The first feedback from the stores is a great compliment for us: the design is well received, the AutoPeg tags are easy to handle and combine safety with process-oriented ease of use. Design, security and functionality go hand in hand here," says a satisfied Hans-Jürgen Nausch from Checkpoint Systems.
