The award ceremony took place during the RFID Journal LIVE! 2025 event.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

C&A, a major and renowned customer of Checkpoint Systems and an international fashion retailer, has been recognized for its large-scale RFID rollout in over 1,300 stores across 17 countries, as well as in its distribution centers. This award underscores C&A’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric operations. The implementation has significantly improved merchandise visibility, inventory accuracy, and in-store availability, thereby optimizing the overall shopping experience.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Checkpoint Systems and C&A worked closely together on the implementation of RFID to optimize inventory management \u2013 \u200b\u200beven for complex product ranges and without disrupting daily operations. To ensure a smooth rollout of the RFID technology and to allow sufficient time for change management and for adapting stores to the new processes, C&A and Checkpoint jointly developed an implementation plan for all European locations over a three-year period. The RFID rollout in all C&A stores was completed as planned in March 2024.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Receiving processes have been streamlined to expedite product processing and availability. Restocking is automated, supporting optimal product availability on the sales floor.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, product movements between different locations are seamlessly tracked, enabling better control of merchandise distribution. Inventory adjustments and write-offs are automatically updated in the system, ensuring that the data is always accurate and up-to-date. Finally, the payment process is also supported by RFID technology \u2013 for greater speed and accuracy at checkout.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To realize this vision, C&A implemented Checkpoint’s advanced RFID inventory management software (the latest version is called ItemOptix), complemented by corresponding hardware solutions. C&A’s distribution centers are fully equipped with Checkpoint RFID tunnels, enabling seamless shipment validation and the generation of Advanced Ship Notices (ASNs) for more efficient logistics processes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Checkpoint’s RFID solutions, combined with the implementation of a GS1-standards-based EPCIS repository at C&A, have delivered significant benefits \u2013 exceeding even the initial targets. Inventory accuracy increased considerably, from 70% to 95%, enabling real-time inventory transparency and improved product availability. This higher accuracy facilitates faster and more efficient restocking in stores and reduces out-of-stock situations. Simultaneously, optimized distribution from distribution centers to stores prevents bottlenecks, resulting in a sales increase of over 5%.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Shipments from distribution centers to branches, as well as transfers between individual branch locations, are now handled much more accurately, further increasing inventory reliability. Branch employees can offer better customer service because they spend less time searching for products and more time advising customers. The RFID system supports omnichannel delivery by reducing the cancellation rate and ensuring that customers receive the products they need at the right time and place.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At the point of sale, RFID-based transactions ensure greater speed and efficiency, reduce waiting times, and create a smoother customer experience. With RFID in over 1,220 stores, distribution centers, POS systems, and self-checkout stations, C&A can eliminate time-consuming and costly physical inventory counts.
