Checkpoint Systems’ revolutionary NS40 antenna protects La Despensa against theft

– The supermarket chain has selected the loss prevention solution for its easy deployment, with no floor cutting

– It has also chosen the SmartOccupancy solution to control occupancy in real-time to protect staff and customers during the pandemic

The Spanish, family-owned La Despensa supermarket chain has announced that it has installed Checkpoint Systems’ new NS40 antenna to reduce theft in one of its newest stores, which is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art technology.

The NS40 is a discreet but powerful in-lane loss prevention solution, specifically designed for grocery retailers. Featuring an ultra-slim, discreet design, the sensors are installed at the end of the checkout, enabling operators to quickly identify non-deactivated tags and those being concealed. This reduces embarrassment for honest customers and aids the retailer in the successful recovery of goods before they reach the exit doors.

La Despensa found that the NS40 was the best solution on the market for its requirements. In addition to delivering excellent detection rates, it also boasts secure Bluetooth connectivity, enabling the store to easily reposition and remodel its checkout space, when required, without expensive re-cabling or disruption to services.

La Despensa will also utilise Checkpoint’s proactive maintenance service that allows the company’s team of engineers to remotely monitor the status of antennas and detect any anomalies before the customer notices them.

Ensuring social distancing is adhered to

To monitor in-store capacity and comply with social distancing regulations, the supermarket chain has also installed Checkpoint’s innovative SmartOccupancy solution.

The sensor, which was launched earlier this year, enables retailers to monitor and control the flow of people entering a store in real time, thus protecting the health and well-being of its customers and employees. It accurately counts all the people entering and leaving the premises, with a live information screen indicating when a customer can safely enter.

An intuitive, online portal enables La Despensa’s managers to access daily and weekly occupancy reports at specific stores or across its estate to ensure compliance. They are able to review occupation levels in real time through a heat map, and easily adapt the limits when required.

Checkpoint Systems Spain’s Sales Director, Emanuele Soncin, commented: “This is another demonstration of our commitment to customer satisfaction. By working closely with the retailer, we have been able to provide technologically advanced solutions that meet their exact requirements.”
